Bromo Wildfire Response Enters Critical Stage, Danrem 083/Bdj Ensures Area Is Truly Safe

PROBOLINGGO – Efforts to tackle the forest and land fire (Karhutla) in the Mount Bromo area have entered a critical stage. Commander of Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya, Colonel Inf. Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan, serving as Commander of the Karhutla Task Force for the Korem 083/Bdj area, directly inspected P30 Peak, Pundak Lembu, Sumber District, to ensure that all firespots had been completely extinguished.

The difficult terrain presents a significant challenge in ensuring that no embers remain. The task force is also alert to the possibility of ground fires hidden beneath the surface that could reignite when wind conditions strengthen

According to the sector commander, a direct inspection is necessary to ensure that field reports accurately reflect the actual situation on the ground. “We are here directly at P30 to ensure that all firespots have been completely extinguished,” he said.

The focus has now shifted to cooling down operations and detailed sweeping. Ground monitoring is being combined with aerial surveillance to detect smoke and hotspots. All elements, including the TNI, Polri, BPBD, volunteers, and BBTNBTS, continue to work together under a unified coordination system.

The firespots have been extinguished, but vigilance remains high. The task force will ensure that all potential sources of embers are eliminated before the area is declared completely safe and the recovery process and evaluation of tourist routes can proceed.
