Danrem 083/Bdj Leads Intensive TNBTS Fire Control Efforts

  

PROBOLINGGO – Efforts to contain the forest and land fire (Karhutla) in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) continue to be intensified. On Friday (14/8/2026), Commander of Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya, Colonel Inf. Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan, S.Sos., M.M.S., M.Han., went directly to the field to ensure that sweeping, firefighting, and cooling operations were carried out optimally, leaving no potential sources of new fires.

Accompanied by Commander of Kodim 0820/Probolinggo, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Ribut Yudo Apriyantono, the Danrem inspected several areas that had become the focus of operations. Despite the difficult terrain, joint personnel continued to sweep the affected areas while cooling previously burned sections. This step is crucial to ensure that hidden embers do not reignite and cause the fire to spread again.

The operation is being conducted in an integrated manner by personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (Polri), BPBD, Fire and Rescue Service, the TNBTS authority, and volunteers. Danrem emphasized that Karhutla response cannot be carried out individually, but requires speed, precision, and strong coordination among all elements. His presence alongside the personnel also provided morale and encouragement to those working in challenging conditions.

“ Sweeping and cooling must be carried out thoroughly. We must ensure that no embers are left behind that could potentially cause the fire to reignite. We will make sure this area is completely safe and under control,” Colonel Wahyu stressed.

Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya, together with all elements of the Karhutla Task Force, will continue to oversee operations until conditions in TNBTS are completely safe. The fire must be extinguished, every ember must be eliminated, and the forest must be protected once again. Synergy and mutual cooperation remain the collective strength in safeguarding the conservation area while protecting communities from the threat of forest and land fires.
