Colonel Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan Urges Students to Be Wise and Selective in Consuming Information

 

MALANG – Amid the rapid flow of information circulating every second, critical thinking has become one of the essential skills that young people must possess. This message was delivered by Commander of Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya, Colonel Inf. Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan, S.Sos., M.M.S., M.Han., during a discussion organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) Chapter of Muhammadiyah University of Malang on Saturday (May 30, 2026).

The event, held at the Auditorium of GKB V, Campus III of UMM, served as a platform for students to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas, and broaden their understanding of various developments occurring around the world.

In his remarks, the Korem Commander encouraged students to become a generation that is wise and intelligent in receiving and understanding information. According to him, the ability to distinguish accurate and beneficial information is crucial to avoid being influenced by misleading content.

“Today, we live in an era overflowing with information. Therefore, young people must develop critical thinking skills, avoid accepting information at face value, and always make it a habit to seek reliable and accountable sources,” he said.

Furthermore, the Commander emphasized that reading, engaging in discussions, and continuously learning would help students expand their perspectives while improving their personal quality and competence.

The participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the event. Students actively raised questions and shared opinions, demonstrating a strong interest in issues developing at both the national and international levels.

“I hope students will continue to nurture their curiosity, keep learning, and take advantage of opportunities like this to broaden their knowledge. The future of our nation will largely be determined by the quality of today’s younger generation,” the Commander added.

Through this activity, students not only gained new insights but also received motivation to continue developing themselves into adaptive, principled, and capable individuals who are ready to face future challenges.
